Overview
Newtron Forensic Engineering is seeking a seasoned and respected Practice Lead to develop and lead our Construction Claims (Quantum & Schedule) practice within the Newtron Construction Consulting and Claims Group. This leadership role is ideal for an expert with deep experience in complex construction claims, delay and disruption analysis, damages quantification, and litigation support.
You will have the unique opportunity to build a premier group from the ground up, delivering expert-level consulting to legal counsel, insurers, contractors, and project owners across Canada.
Management Requirements
- Build and lead a high-performing construction claims consulting team
- Define and implement a strategic vision aligned with the firm's objectives
- Represent Newtron as a subject-matter expert in legal, arbitration, and insurance forums
- Cultivate relationships with law firms, insurers, developers, and construction stakeholders
- Oversee claim analyses, quantum assessments, and expert reports for quality and defensibility
- Mentor emerging talent and foster a collaborative, learning-focused team culture
- Promote cross-disciplinary collaboration across Newtron's forensic practice areas
Technical Requirements
We seek a candidate with depth in several of the following areas and the leadership capacity to guide a team with collective expertise across the full spectrum:
- Preparation, review, and analysis of construction claims (quantum and schedule)
- Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and forensic delay analysis
- Disruption and loss of productivity assessments
- Damages quantification, economic loss modeling, and earned value analysis
- Construction cost audits, scenario modeling, and contract compliance reviews
- Analysis of standard construction contracts (CCDC, FIDIC, NEC, etc.)
- Application of AACEI, SCL, and other recognized protocols
- Expert witness report preparation and testimony (litigation, arbitration, and adjudication)
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and claims analysis software
- Integration of 4D scheduling, forensic modeling, and data visualization in reports
Educational Background
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field (MBA, LLM, or other advanced credentials an asset)
License Requirements
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, PQS, or equivalent designation. Recognized expert witness credentials or litigation experience strongly preferred.
Market Expertise
- Complex infrastructure, energy, transportation, and industrial construction projects
- Clients including law firms, insurers, contractors, government entities, and developers
- Strong familiarity with litigation, arbitration, and adjudication proceedings
Project Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated leadership in the delivery of large-scale claims consulting assignments
- Experience managing disputes across public-private partnerships (P3s), EPC, and design-build projects
