Overview

Newtron Forensic Engineering is seeking a highly experienced and respected Practice Lead to build and lead our Geotechnical Forensic Engineering practice. This is a strategic leadership opportunity to shape a premier practice group that integrates technical excellence with litigation support, working alongside some of the most innovative minds in the forensic space.

Management Requirements

  • Build and lead a high-performing geotechnical forensic team
  • Define and implement strategic direction aligned with corporate goals
  • Represent the firm as an expert in legal and technical forums
  • Cultivate relationships with insurers, legal professionals, and contractors
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance for expert reports and forensic deliverables
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and staff
  • Promote knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement within the team

Technical Requirements

We seek a candidate with deep proficiency in key areas below and the leadership acumen to guide a team that collectively addresses this full range of technical expertise.

  • Foundation systems and settlement analysis (shallow, deep, caisson, pile)
  • Soil-structure interaction, frost heave, lateral movement, and sinkhole assessments
  • Retaining wall failures, slope instability, and landslide investigations
  • Construction deficiencies: excavation, dewatering, shoring, earthworks
  • Road and pavement failure analysis (subgrades, drainage)
  • Mine geotechnics and tailings containment (asset)
  • Subsurface investigation planning, borehole data interpretation, lab testing
  • Proficient in numerical modeling (Plaxis, FLAC, GeoStudio, etc.)

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's or Ph.D. preferred)

License Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligible for licensure
  • Recognized expert witness status in legal proceedings (preferred)

Market Expertise

  • Legal and insurance markets requiring forensic investigation
  • Infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects
  • Contractors, legal counsel, claims consultants, and insurers

Project Experience

  • Minimum 10 years in geotechnical engineering
  • Minimum 5 years in forensic investigation or expert consulting (preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership on high-profile or complex failure investigations
